Globus stories: An interview with Bård Berulfsen, VP of Sales at Globus AI
Globus AI is powered by its people. In this series, we’re speaking with some of our employees for a peek into their working lives, their vision and goals while working at Globus AI, and their favourite hobbies. Here, we speak with Bård Berulfsen.
Tell us about yourself. What did you do before Globus AI?
I worked in different positions at various FMCG companies over the last 10 years, and in the role as sales manager for the last 5 years.
I wanted to move into the tech industry as I see it as the future. Plus my role with Globus AI uses a lot of the skills I built throughout my career. Finding prospective clients, working closely with them, approaching prospects - these are all skills that have transferred into my new role.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy being outdoors and staying active, so you’ll see me out in nature all year long. I go running in the woods, hiking in the mountains, and swimming. I’m also mindful of how much technology we (as a society) use day-in-day-out so I turn my cellphone and other devices off to spend time with my family and be present in the moment. This is so important for mental health too.
Tell me about your ideal vacation in the past or in the future.
If I am going abroad then I’d say the South of France as I really like the culture and vibe there - plus the food of course! But when I’m in Norway, nothing can beat going to the mountains to explore or to the sea for sailing.
How do you relate to the Globus AI vision?
I like that the founders are so value-driven, it’s high on the agenda here and I relate to that spirit of wanting to make a change in the world. When you combine that mindset with a business mindset then you’re likely to have some great achievements in the future. It’s complementary and creates something bigger than yourself.
What tools do you use to make work easier? Any advice on structuring a working day?
Throughout my workday, I use our CRM system the most. However, the structure of my day makes me extremely effective. I believe that your mind is at its best in the morning, you’ve woken up with a fresh mind and the most energy. So, I like to tackle my most complex tasks in the morning before noon. I also get up early so I have a good start (and a lot of time before noon!). This makes the flow of my day go better.
Is Globus AI a typical Norwegian company? Why?
It’s not like any traditional Norwegian company that I’ve worked with - I’m so impressed by how values-driven it is and how the founders have built the company towards that purpose - this, in turn, attracts highly talented people. Everyone is close-knit and united in the same direction, towards the same goals. And Globus AI really invests in its employees too. Plus, it’s an internationally-minded company - its people are spread throughout the world and that really brings a different dynamic to the team.
What is your advice for newcomers to the company?
You’ll find that Globus AI is fun to work for because of the fast pace of change and the energy of the team. To really make the most of your time here, take as many opportunities as you can to shape your workday and role. There’s tremendous career potential here, you can get involved in processes all over the company to really understand how everything works.
